Lion ride-on Wheelybug takes pride in raising money for Born Free Foundation

A TOY company is hoping to create a roaring trade in ride-on Lion Wheelybugs this Christmas to raise funds for the Born Free Foundation - a charity committed to protecting wildlife all over the world.

For every Lion Wheelybug sold between 1st October and 25th December, Hippychick, a baby and toddler specialist, will be donating £1.00 to the Foundation to support them in their commitment to working tirelessly to ensure that all wild animals, including those in captivity, are treated with compassion and respect.

The handsome new Lion is the latest animal design to be added to the Wheelybug collection of ride on toys that will fascinate your child with their ability to go backwards, forwards as well as round and round. The Lion Wheelybug is part of the ‘Plush’ collection and features a removable soft, furry, cuddly cover which can be washed and even replaced with an alternative cover such as a Panda or a Hedgehog (available to purchase separately) to instantly transform a Wheelybug into another adorable animal.

The Born Free Foundation was started in 1966 by actors Virginia McKenna OBE and Bill Travers MBE who both starred in the classic wildlife film Born Free, the true story of conservationists Joy and George Adamson who rescued a lioness cub called Elsa and successfully returned her to the wild. Learning about the plight of wild animals during the making of the film was a life-changing experience for Virginia and Bill which inspired them to start the charity.

Hippychick has raised many thousands of pounds for various charities since it was founded nearly twenty years ago. Animal conservation has always been the target with Wheelybugs sales at Christmas and the company is proud to have been able to raise significant funds for the Bumblebee Conservation Trust, the People’s Trust for Endangered Species and the British Hedgehog Preservation Society.

Commenting, Hippychick Founder Julia Minchin said: ‘I remember seeing the film, Born Free, as a child, and what an impact it made on me. So much so, that my three children have all had to watch it too! I am so delighted that Wheelybug have introduced a new lion design. At last, we have an animal in the collection that aligns with the work of this fantastic organisation which is committed to a cause that has been close to my heart for as long as I can remember.’

Lion Wheelybugs along with a collection of other beautifully crafted toys for Christmas are available to purchase from www.hippychick.com and are priced at £69.95
