Hippychick are delighted to be supporting New Life Mexico (NLM).
New Life Mexico (NLM) is a charity that supports children and young people in Mexico who have been physically, sexually or emotionally abused. The street children, whose very existence is sustained through begging, are as young as five. Facing starvation and without family these vulnerable children instantly become targets for drug dealers.
NLM passionately believes that education is the most powerful tool available for a happy and fulfilling future. The rehabilitation of these street children is therefore focused on providing them with an education and related supplies. NLM’s funding also provides for health and medical care which the children would otherwise not receive.
Philippa Vernon-Powell (NLM’s Field Director) says although there are many laughs, there are moments of deep anguish and sadness, as well as stories that keep me awake at night. Rehabilitation is obviously a slow process, but the confidence the children find in schooling and the new feeling of dignity is an immeasurable benefit.
New Life Mexico is a registered UK charity No. 1104138. To find out more visit www.newlifemexico.com
